An opportunity exists at GRS – Isando for a Maintenance Fitter with the following requirements:
Main purpose of the job
Responsible for maintenance repairs, fabricating, revamping, and assembling the structural components
that make up mechanical systems.
Minimum required Qualifications and Experience required

Matric Certificate
-
Valid Driver’s license is essential.

Trade Test Certificate – Qualified Fitter(Red Seal)
-
Arc Welding and Co2 Welding
-
Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Fitter within manufacturing processes or roofing.
-
Must be a team player.
-
Good interpersonal skills.
-
Must be able to work independently.
-
Work shifts when required
-
Must be able to work under pressure.
-
Working on heights
-
Overhead crane repairs will be a big advantage.
-
Own transportation
Technical Competence
-
Must be able to make and read drawings.
-
Must have experience in, but not limited to Boiler Making and Fitting
-
To do plant-based repairs on equipment and machines
-
Must have experience in basic machining.
-
Good knowledge and experience on lubrication and hydraulic systems, pneumatics, gearboxes,
drive-shafts, and spindles -
Excellent fault-finding skills.
-
Certificate/ Course in Hydraulics and Pneumatics
-
High level of accuracy/ competency with refurbishing/ rebuild of gearbox and heavy equipment.
-
Working knowledge of safety standards of equipment.
-
Needs to have strong mechanical hydraulic and Pneumatics acumen.

Responsibilities
-
Responsible for keeping accurate records of all maintenance work done.
-
Accurately complete all job cards and submit to the maintenance foreman.
-
Compile spares list based on the breakdown.
-
General repairs of gearboxes, motors, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
-
Conduct diagnostic testing on malfunctioning systems to determine the root cause of the malfunction.
-
Ensure tools are sharpened.
-
Replace bearings, sprockets, chains, and couplings.
-
Responsible for General repairs on the mobile mills
-
All ad-hoc duties assigned to you from management as and when required.
-
Analyze, Diagnose and Repair Faults.
-
Install and develop new machines.
-
Advise Maintenance Foreman to order new spares and material.
-
Be vigilant and Aware of any hazards in the factory and ensure it is reported to the Manager.

Respond to call outs after hours.
-
Competent in Arc Welding and Co2 Welding
-
Must be able to work night shifts when required.
-
Must be able to work overtime when required.
-
Assembling and disassembling mechanical systems.
-
Welding and fabricating components.
-
Maintaining and repairing machinery.
-
Inspecting equipment for safety and quality control.
-
Keeping accurate records of maintenance work.
-
Repairing malfunctioning mechanical systems.
-
Performing preventive maintenance.
