An opportunity exists at GRS – Isando for a Manager - New Business with the following requirements:

Main purpose of the Job

 

This commercially proven role will be accountable for supporting the Companies Innovation and Business Development strategy through the “New Business” unit and will manage sales and operations of GRS’s products and services for the “New Business”

This role will be responsible for stimulating an environment of innovation and entrepreneurship and supporting the activities of GRS to achieve targeted cost reduction and sales expansion objectives through viable and approved new business products and development.

Success will primarily be achieved through development and delivery of an innovation pipeline of compelling, market validated and commercially ready products, solutions, services, and new business opportunities, in addition to assisting the rolling out of any planned special products and solutions that the business undertakes.

 

Qualifications, Experience, Attributes

  • Required Qualifications - Matric/Grade 12

  • National Diploma in Sales Management

  • University Degree in Sales Management or Business Studies would be an advantage.

  • Experience: General Minimum 5 years’ experience using Microsoft packages

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience of local roof industry

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Experience: Specific Minimum 2 years’ experience in sales in construction industry

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a management position

Technical Competence

  • Ability to prepare budgets and approve budget expenditures.

  • Ability to determine annual gross-profit plans by implementing sales and operations strategies; analysing trends and results.

  • Ability to establish sales and operations objectives by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas; projecting expected sales volume and profit.

  • Implements sales and operations programs by developing action plans.

  • Maintain sales volume by keeping current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators, and competitors.

  • Accurately forecasts annual, quarterly and monthly revenue streams.

  • Develops specific projects plans to ensure revenue achievement.

  • Coordinates proper resources to ensure efficient and stable results.

  • Formulates policies, practices and procedures.

  • Ability to collaborate and to develop sales strategies to improve market share in “New Business” product lines.

  • Interprets short- and long-term effects on sales strategies in operating profit.

  • Ability to collaborate with all related departments to establish and control budgets for product and sales promotions.

  • Cost and expense reviews.

  • Manage the sales administration function, operational performance reporting, streamlining processes and systems wherever possible.

  • Developing a business plan covering sales, revenue, and expense controls, meeting agreed targets, and promoting the New Business’s presence.

  • Any other ad-hoc duties.

  • Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Proficient in Microsoft Office – Word, Advanced Excel, Power Point, Outlook (Including, creating spreadsheets, utilising data bases and doing word processing, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a rolling Two (2) year Innovation and new Business Development Pipeline which includes commercial validation for products, solutions, and services.

  • Drive concept and development, including consumer and go-to-market research, help guide decision-making on operational impacts and capital requirements and ensure commercial feasibility for opportunities with close collaboration and feedback from key stakeholders.

  • Supporting the GRS strategy and commercialization of pre-approved projects in collaboration with the GRS Branches/ Divisions to achieve agreed objectives.

  • Working in close collaboration with sales, operations, finance and procurement for the strategic optimization of the “New Business” product portfolio to ensure sustainable sales, project delivery and revenue/contribution growth.

  • Work with the GRS Branches/Divisions to conduct competitive and consumer deep dives to understand, scope and develop consumer foresight and implications for future opportunities.

  • Be a key business partner, seeking input and feedback from marketing and sales teams to ensure relevant and executional effectiveness.

  • Monitor and measure effectiveness of initiatives post-implementation and regular reporting of pipeline progress to plan.

  • Determine the most appropriate route/s for commercialization in progressing the implementation of identified opportunities.

  • Develop a broad network of contacts/relationships across the Industry.

  • Help to engender a culture of innovation awareness within South Africa.

  • With legal support develop contracts and other appropriate agreements to commercialize opportunities.

  • Ensure that personal ways of working are consistent with the values and culture of the GRS Group
