Factory Chargehand


GRS – Cape Town

Reporting to: 

Branch Manager Cape Town


An opportunity exists at GRS – Cape Town for a Factory Foreman with the following requirements:


Main purpose of the job


To manage, supervise and control manufacturing processes with the required ISO Quality Standard and to ensure that all Health and Safety measures are strictly adhered to.

Qualifications and Experience required

  • Matric Certificate 

  • Valid Driver’s licence is essential 

  • Computer Literacy is essential (MS Office) 

  • Minimum 5 or more years experience in a similar role is essential 

  • Relevant Production Management diploma/degree will be an advantage 

  • Syspro Advance experience is required 

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 

  • Good knowledge of reading and interpreting architectural and structural drawings 

  • Critical Decision Making and Problem Solving 

  • Sound knowledge of South African roof sheeting industry is preferred 

  • A good understanding off the building industry will be an advantage 

  • Must be able to work independently 

  • Must be able to work under pressure 

  • Must be able to do extensive travelling 

  • Honesty and Integrity

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan for all manufacturing 

  • Set Priorities for all jobs manufactured 

  • Adhere to work in progress 

  • Ensure all Set Targets are achieved 

  • Alleviate Bottlenecks and find ways to improve efficiency 

  • Utilize workforce to optimal capacity 

  • Identify training needs in the workforce 

  • Monitor scrap metal and implement systems to ensure minimal scrap levels 

  • Monitor machine capacity and capabilities 

  • Ensure Quality on all manufactured products and develop improvements 

  • Assist in the design of products and identify cost effective ways to improve the manufacturing processes 

  • Improve on Stock Reduction 

  • The Chargehand will also be required to work on the machines 

  • Be able to work overtime when required 

  • Be able to work shifts when required 

  • Assist with Adhoc Tasks as and when required by Management 

  • Uphold Company Code of Ethics 

  • Contribute to GRS Culture
